If you had told me I’d find a full vegan cafe that had the makings of a Melbourne cafe in Cambodia I wouldn’t have believed you, not one bit. But what do I know, here I am at Vibe Cafe – the first fully vegan restaurant in Cambodia eating my own words whilst I wait for my Nomad burger.
As soon as you step through the door of Vibe Cafe, you feel like you’re stepping into another world where you instantly feel healthier and one with nature with bright airy rooms filled with lush tropical plants, big wooden tables and rattan furniture.
I ate here every day I was in Phnom Penh so I got to try a lot of the menu and I’m here to tell what’s good and what’s not so good.
On paper, the Chocolate Dream bowl sounds well, like a dream – Organic raw cacao, banana, fermented coconut yoghurt, maple. Topped with homemade peanut butter, banana, goji berry and chocolate shavings. It even looks like one, tell me you’ve seen any food more aesthetically pleasing than this? Unfortunately for me, the taste fell short. Like a chocolate pudding turned bad.
Postive pancakes – gluten-free flour mix, nut milk, banana, chia seeds topped with raspberries, mango compote and maple syrup. Not the same texture as your normal fluffy pancake and instead more gloopy but the taste was good. Maple and banana? Winning combo.
Arabian Bowl – Green superfood falafel, beetroot hummus, olives, shredded raw salad and avocado. The falafels were crispy on the outside and light and fluffy on the inside. I found they didn’t have that much flavour but when mixed with the hummus they were superb. A light and refreshing meal.
The Nomad Burger – I’m not sure if they sell this at this point in time ( June 2018), It’s not on there menu online but that could be outdated. The burger consisted of a black bean patty with “cheese” salad and homemade ketchup.
INSANE, I have been dreaming about this burger ever since I ate it, I’m considering flying back to Cambodia just so I can have it again – this is coming from a cheeseburger loving freak.
They also have a takeaway fridge so you can enjoy all the healthy treats at home.
If you’re in Phnom Penh or Siem Reap go and check out Vibe Cafe you won’t be disappointed – love a very non-vegan gal. x

Ha..ha..you cracked me up! I have to admit that I’m so far away from being a vegan, but I,too, love me some vegan food on some random days.

That’s the best.
Love that the burger turned out great.
There’s something wonderful about a good sandwich.
Cheers to you with a great big side of boogie boogie.
