It’s the middle of winter in Melbourne and what is better than getting (hypothermia) some creamy gelato? I use to think people lining up for gelato/ice cream/frozen yogurt when it’s about 6°c outside where absolutely bonkers but I am now one of those people.
Fun fact, I do not like ice cream but gelato is a whole other story. Pidapipo is brightly lit, with a neon sign and lots of colours making it feel very fun and inviting. The flavours are written on the wall so you can decide before you get to the counter so you’re not that person holding everybody up.
I ordered two scoops, the first one was caramelised banana with coconut. Everything worked in harmony, there was no overpowering flavour. The caramelised banana added a subtle caramel flavour and there were real chunks of coconut flakes throughout adding some texture. The second flavour I got was salted caramel, super salty and super caramelly. Almost tasted like toffee, a must if you love salted caramel. Don’t forget to add a hot Nutella swirl for the ultimate sugar high.
The gelato at Pidapipo is made fresh daily with creative flavours, creamy textures and just the right amount of sweetness. Perfect for those after dinner sweet cravings.
